How do individual citizens support nonprofit organizations?
The presence of nonprofits is increasingly considered a key component to the quality of life in communities nationwide. By monitoring the funding methodology of this category, the level of importance residents place on nonprofits can be estimated. Higher numbers correlate with greater public support of the nonprofit organizations.
General Observations:
The trend in all the counties with the exception of Eagle County has been to receive an increasing share of their total funding from non-governmental contributions and grants.
During the 2008/09 period the counties of Summit, Grand and Pitkin received over 60% of their funding from non-govermental contributions and grants.
Routt County Observations:
Nonprofits in Routt County receive about 50% of their total funding from non-governmental contributions and grants.
The trend to receive less funding from governmental sources has been improving.
