The Index measures the average per capita income of the county's residents.  A large per capita income represents a stronger economy.

General Observations:
The per capita income in all counties  has increased an average of 5.2% since the baseline was established.  However, per capita incomes decreased by 1% compared to the prior year.  This  reflects that all the comparable counties were beginning to see a decline.  Although Routt County dropped in absolute ranking from 2nd to 4th, as was the case last year the counties of Routt, Eagle and San Miguel remain virtually tied. in 2nd place behind Pitkin.

Routt County Observations:
Although still increasing from the baseline year the rate of increase in per capita income in Routt County has slowed.
