What is the diversity of income?
This measurement takes the total income generated by the top three industries in each county and determines what percentage of the total private sector income generated in that county is derived from those three industries. It is important to note this measurement does not include income generated by government. The lower the percentage is of the three industries, the better it is for the economic diversity and long-term stability of the county.
General Observations:
With regards to sources of income Summit County is the least diverse county and La Plata is the most diverse.
Since the establishment of the baseline data income diversification has taken place at the fastest rate in Gunnison and La Plata Counties.
Six mountain counties have seen improvements in sources of income diversity and four counties have become less diverse.
Routt County Observations:
Over the past three reporting periods Routt County's distribution of sources of income have become slightly less diverse.
