What is the affordability of housing relative to income per capita in the community?
The following measurement presents the relationship between household income and housing prices, which reflect the ability for the average wage earner to afford a home.  Every community must have the ability to house its workforce.  The lower ratio value represent a greater housing affordability.
General Observations:
Pitkin County  continues to be the least affordable with the median housing cost at  10.9 times the median income. Grand County was the only county where housing became less affordable between 2007 and 2008. The percentage rate of affordability improvement was the greatest in Eagle and Pitkin counties.
Routt County Observations:
Routt County ranks 5th. Its ranking has been unchanged for the last three reporting periods.
