In Colorado communities, road dust, street sanding, wood and fossil fuel burning constitute most sources of particulates. The environmental effects of particulates range from visibility degradation to vegetation damage and human health issues. Currently three of the comparable counties do not measure air quality.
General Observations:
Three counties do not currently have air quality measurement systems. The air quality improved in four counties and deteriorated in three counties. Garfield County's air quality has deteriorated the fastest since the baseline year.
Routt County Observations:
Routt County air quality has deteriorated since the base line year. Routt County has ranked 6th for the third reporting period in a row. Routt County air quality complies with national standards.
