What is the county doing to manage energy consumption?
Climate change, carbon footprint and energy conservation are often daily news topics nationwide.  The objective of this measurement is to assess Environmental Stewardship. The purpose of this index is to be a tracking tool to help affect change in Routt County.  At this time the Index is using vehicle traffic to calculate estimated carbon output per person per day.  Lower figures are better in relation to carbon output.
General Observations:
All the counties have seen a reduction in their per capita carbon output. Grand County has the highest per capita output, however, it has been trending lower since the baseline period of 2006. San Miguel County's carbon output is becoming lower at the fastest rate.
Routt County Observations:
Routt County has the lowest per carbon output per capita. Routt County per capita carbon output has reduced by 16.5% since the baseline period.
