General Observations

• San Miguel has the highest per capita funding of libraries and also had the highest positive change.

• Eight of the counties showed a positive change.

Routt County Observations:

• Routt is the third highest and showed positive change, spending $150 per capita.

Do we value civic institutions as reflected by public support?

As libraries are funded by a mill levy, (with the exception of Garfield County) this Index identifies public funding of libraries as a representation for monitoring community support of civic institutions. No data is available for Garfield County as they fund their libraries through a non-comparable method.

Additional data will be added to this Index as it becomes available for categories such as involvement, attendance, and use of other institutions such as recreation and community centers, music halls, sport clubs, etc. Greater dollar amounts indicate more support of civic institutions.
