•All counties except Routt and Summit decreased their residential construction.

• Routt had the highest rate of change in residential construction.

This Index is similar to national economic indicators on New Housing Starts. Higher values equal stronger construction values.

The construction industry currently provides a major source of employment and financial contribution to each county’s economy. Those counties traditionally ranking high in this category might be more dependant on construction for their overall economy. One should take into consideration the data in Diversity of Income and Diversity of Jobs that was presented earlier.
