How many county residents can
afford adequate health care?
The Index asserts all residents should have access to health care options. On a national basis, the uninsured population is clearly an issue that has been at the forefront, and as such, some measure of Routt County’s uninsured is an important aspect of access to health care.
Analysis of federal data for estimates of uninsured people reflects a high correlation between low income and age relative to uninsured status, inferring that adults ages 18 to 34 are less likely to be insured. Therefore, this age group was identified as a percentage of total county population for this Index measurement.
The Index is using an improved data source from the previous Index. Unfortunately, this data is only updated every five years.
