General Observations

• Seven of the 10 counties improved and at a very similar rate.

• Chaffee has the highest ratio. Pitkin has the lowest ratio, although Pitkin decreased.

Routt County Observations:

Routt had the highest relative rate of improvement and has the second lowest ratio.

Social Low Income

How many residents live at lower income levels, and how sustainable is the income required versus the income generated for a given household?

The economic diversity of Routt County consists of all income levels, and those in our county who are in a low income status should be considered in decision making.
The Index measures low income with equal weighting between two measurements:

1. Percentage of tax returns claiming earned income credit; and

2. Percentage of population below federal poverty level.
